Sci Fi Fans: A New 'Dune' is Dawning with Timothée Chalamet

Dune by Frank Herbert

I'm not much of a sci-fi fan, to be honest with you. Never read the acclaimed Dune by Frank Herbert. Didn't much care for the 1984 film directed by David Lynch and starring Kyle MacLachlan, Sean Young, and Virginia Madsen.

So, except for the fact that the cast looks pretty spectacular, I'm not overly amped about the upcoming production starring boy of the moment Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Rampling, Stellan Sarsgård and possibly, Zendaya. The Greatest Showman actor would play Chani, the love interest of Chalamet's lead character Paul, "the son of a noble family trying to avenge his father's death while saving a spice planet that he is entrusted to protect."

One thing that might have me actually watching the film is that Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner, Arrival, Sicario) is directing, and the script is by Eric Roth (The Alienist, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Forrest Gump). We'll see.

In the meantime, here's the trailer for the 1984 version:

Are you a sci fi reader? A fan of Dune? I'm all ears.
