A Matthew Goode Double Feature: British Isles Friday #book2movie

Matthew Goode and Lily James in The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

Today's British Isles Friday post is a double feature. In more ways than one! Yesterday I reminded you that The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is making its debut tonight—my husband and I will be streaming the film on Netflix right after Jeopardy and we’ll be joined by our elderly neighbor who happens to be one of the children evacuated from the island of Guernsey back in the early days of World War II. The film stars Lily James and the cast includes not only Michiel Huisman as Dawsey but several actors from Downton Abbey including Matthew Goode, the man who finally made Mary happy.

Matthew Goode is also on hand for another British Isles Friday treat we’ve been waiting for. Ordeal by Innocence based on the book by Agatha Christie making its debut today on Amazon. The three-episode series features Goode playing as Paul Durant, the wheel-chair bound husband of yet another Mary, this one played by Eleanor Tomlinson.

Both shows feature large ensemble casts boasting some of our favorite Brits. Watch the trailers and tell me, which will you watch first? Ordeal by Innocence or The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society?

What are you watching first? I’m all ears.
