My Cousin Rachel starring Rachel Weisz & Sam Claflin: Add it to the Must See List

Anyone old enough to remember My Cousin Rachel starring Richard Burton and Olivia de Havilland? Burton won a Golden Globe in the Most Promising Newcomer category!

This adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's 1951 classic novel was set for May 5 but has just been moved to July 14th, smack dab in the middle of the testosterone crowded summer movie going period. On the other hand, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has been set for release on May 5th, so the July date may be a bit safer for a film completely lacking in super heroes and action.

The update is being directed by Roger Michell whose credits include Hyde Park on the Hudson, Le WeekEnd and one of our all time faves, Notting Hill. Sigh. Interesting to see what he does with this darker material.

The logline:

A young Englishman plots revenge against his mysterious, beautiful cousin, believing that she murdered his guardian. But his feelings become complicated as he finds himself falling under the beguiling spell of her charms.
