The Golden Globe nominees: Julianne Moore in Still Alice is still my sentimental favorite

Julianne Moore won the Golden Globe for playing Sara Palin in Game Change in 2013

Every year I swear I'm not going to get swept up in the awards season frenzy but here we are at the Golden Globes and I admit I'm hoping Julianne Moore takes the win for her performance in Still Alice. Moore — the odds on favorite — is up against Reese Witherspoon in a raw and brave turn as Cheryl Strayed in Wild, Rosamund Pike for Gone Girl - another great performance, and based on another great book, Felicity Jones for Theory of Everything, also luminous opposite Eddie Redmayne, and Jennifer Anniston in Cake which I haven't seen.

While Moore is my sentimental favorite both because she is honest and affecting in the role and because of my personal connection to Alzheimer's which no doubt impacted my viewing of the movie, all the women are amazing. I'd be especially happy too, for Jennifer Anniston to take home the trophy, finally breaking out from the shadow of Friends, and her ex-husband and finding her own big screen success, not just as a comically-gifted but a serious actor as well.

Good luck to all the women and all the Golden Globe nominees — below is the full list, sans TV nominees, cut and paste straight from the Golden Globes sight.
