The Oscars 2014: 12 Years a Slave, Gravity or American Hustle? Just pop open the champagne and enjoy the show!

Congratulations to Steve McQueen et al for the sweep of the Film Independent Spirit awards. 12 Years a Slave won for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay (John Ridley) Best Supporting Female Lead (Nyongo Lupita) Best Cinematography (Sean Bobbit). The usual suspects took home the rest of the top prizes - Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto took the Best Lead and Best Supporting Actor Performance trophies, with Cate Blachett winning for Best Female Lead - as they've been doing all season long.

Will 12 Years a Slave win the Oscar for Best Picture too? Number crunchers are saying the film enjoys a small lead over Gravity, with American Hustle in third place.

Slate has a cool tool from Nate Silver to help figure the odds.  But if you see And that's a wrap for me today; I've got to go chill the champagne.
