"About Time's" Domhnall Gleeson Joining Saorise Ronan in Brooklyn

Who's the guy with Rachel McAdams?
I've been seeing television spots for About Time starring Rachel McAdams and a pale, red-haired actor that the commercial doesn't bother to identify.  Having no idea who he was - or why he was co-starring opposite one of America's sweetest hearts - I checked him out on imdb.

OH! It's Levin from Anna Karenina! If you read my original post, "Anna Klostraphobia", you know that the relationship between Kitty and Levin was one of the film's highlights for me. And he was Bill Weasley from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part Two, which I didn't see. Sorry, Potter peeps.

Domhnall Gleeson is his name (I guess stage names have gone out of fashion; no one cares what their name looks like 'on the marquis' ) and he's set to play a role in Brooklyn, the adaptation of Colm Toibin's nostalgic coming of age novel about a young Irish woman, Ellis (Saorise Ronan) who emigrates to America in the 50's for work opportunities. I can only assume that Gleeson has been cast to play Jim Parsons, the hometown guy Ellis has a bit of thing with before she leaves for America. If you've read the book you're probably asking yourself, okay but who is gonna play Tony, the Italian American (yep, a reminder that we're all immigrants) she gets together with in the states? Such a good question, I'll let you know when I find out.

Now that I know that the odd redhead is Domhnall Gleeson, I'm intrigued. Take a look at the About Time trailer for a better feel for how he works.

In the meantime, if you're interested in Brooklyn, you might want to buy the book, and/or check out this Brooklyn post.
