“I adore Paris. It’s the greatest love of my life” Michael Caine #book2movies

On Location: Mr. Morgan's Last Love Shot in Paris

“Choosing films is like real estate. It’s all about location, location, location. I’ve filmed in Paris, but I’ve never done a movie that took place in Paris entirely.”

Michael Caine on Mr. Morgan's Last Love based on the book, La Douceur Assassine by Francoise Dorner. The film which stars Michael Caine, Clemence Poesy and Gillian Anderson comes out in the spring of 2013.

Michael Caine & Clemence Poesy share an atypical
May December romance.

Mr. Morgan's Last Love shot in some of the most beautiful albeit classic locations in Paris including the Palais Royal, the Arc de Triomphe and the Luxembourg Gardens.

Caine’s favorite spots for a romantic dinner for deux include the Jules Verne restaurant in the Eiffel Tower, Ledoyen, Lasserre and Alain Ducasse, plus more casual bistros like Chez Andre or Brasserie Lipp, but only on the ground floor and “not upstairs in Siberia.”

View from Jules Verne.
The problem with the view
from The Eiffel Tower is there’s no Eiffel Tower
in it.

  1. I have to admit that while I love Paris as a movie setting, I've not loved my own trips to Paris. Perhaps it's just better for me to see it on the screen without the French around me. ;-)

  2. Kristen, We have to have an intervention, and we're willing to sacrifice by taking a trip to Paris with you to show you how great it is.
I'd love to have dinner with Michael Caine in Paris. Can you imagine? You'd never get seated in "Siberia" with Michael Caine.

  3. How did I miss this post earlier in the week? So glad to find it now too. Paris is one of the great loves of my life too. I will watch almost any movie set in Paris (although they're usually fab)- I will have to keep an eye out for this one. I had a magnificent lunch at the Jules Verne on my last trip to Paris, and will have another one next year on my next trip. It's perfect. I'll check out his other recommendations too....
