The Man Booker Prize announced its shortlist of candidates for the illustrious literary prize yesterday.
The prize is only open to writers from Britain, Ireland and the Commonwealth of former British colonies. The winner won't have long to wait; the announcement comes on October 16.
Hilary Mantel's Bring up the Bodies has already been snapped up by the BBC as part of Mantel's Tudor Trilogy. Peter Straughan who scripted the adaptation of LeCarre's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy will write the screenplay. Her Man Booker prize winning Wolf Hall is the first of the series, her currently unpublished, The Mirror and the Light represents part three. Expect the first adaptation sometime in the fall of 2013.
