The Descendants has won the Golden Globe for Best Picture/Drama!
And George Clooney has won Best Actor for his portrayal of Matt King. If you haven't read the book, you really should! It was nice to hear Alexander Payne the director who also co-wrote the adaptation of Kaui Hart Hemmings beautiful book give the author a shout out! That's Kaui with Alexander Payne on the right. Check out kaui hart hemmings here.

Other bookish winners include:
Michelle Williams for Best Actress/Comedy for My Week with Marilyn

As far as the real deal goes, which is who gets the Oscar for Best Picture, It seems to be coming down to The Artist vs The Descendants with a smattering of Hugo love!
The foreign press totally ignored Steven Spielberg's War Horse, as did the Broadcast Critics yesterday.
Also ignored Albert Brooks from Drive as it looks like, despite all the early buzz, that this season's Best Supporting Actor award will go to Christopher Plummer for Beginners, in much the same way that Shailene Woodley got lots of attention for The Descendants but I'm betting the Oscar follows the critics and the Golden Globes and gives the award for Best Supporting Actress to Octavia Spencer for The Help.
The voters at The Academy Awards had to have their nomination ballots in this past Friday at 5pm.
The nominees are announced at 5:30am in the morning of January 24th from the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre at the Academy. The Academy Awards take place February 26th and guess what?! My brother is taking me as his date! I seriously can't wait!
