Watch the trailer for A Simple Favor starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively #BasedonaBook #book2movie

We tuned into the upcoming adaptation of Darcey Bell’s A Simple Favor in June of last year, the book being compared to Gone Girl Now we have a trailer, some snazzy French musique, a very smug-looking Blake Lively and a mystified Anna Kendrick.

If you’ll recall, Lively plays Emily, a sophisticated Manhattan PR exec who disappears. Kendrick is the pal and stay-at-home Mommy blogger who tries to figure out where the heck she went. Henry Golding—who we’ll be seeing in Crazy Rich Asians—and Linda Cardellini (Meg in Bloodline) also star. Paul Feig both wrote the screenplay and directs. The book has been compared to Gone Girl which sets some pretty high expectations for the movie.

Check out the trailer; we don’t get a lot of info—this is a thriller after all—just enough to intrigue us. I haven’t read the book but I'm not sure that Anna Kendrick’s character is upset as she says she is. I, for one, am loving the background music. The song, by Saint Privat is called Poisson Rouge, which means Goldfish—proof that everything sounds better in French. A Simple Favor lands in the US and the UK in September.

There’s still oodles of time to read the book before the movie comes out.
