The Circle starring Emma Watson, John Boyega & Tom Hanks: The 1st Trailer for the movie based on Dave Egger's book

I’ve been waiting for the trailer for The Circle since June 2015, when I first shared that Emma Watson would replace Alicia Vikander as Mae in the movie based on Dave Egger’s book. 

The trailer for The Circle looks pretty good to me but...

It’s been so long I’m concerned that the sci fi series Black Mirror has scooped the ideas The Circle’s espouses. At this point we’re all well aware of the intrusiveness of Facebook-like technology so it will be interesting to see if the dystopian ideas The Circle presents are as fresh, frightening and logical, its characters as compelling, as a sci-fi horror film demands.

Here’s my take on The Circle by Dave Egger.

Directed by James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now) The Circle stars Watson as Mae, the fresh young face at the Facebookesque social media company with Tom Hanks as its’ Steve Jobs-like charismatic leader. Patton Oswalt is Tom Stenton, another of the company’s power founders, John Boyega is Keldari, Bill Paxton and Glenne Headley play Mae’s parents with Boyhood’s Ellar Coltrane as her discarded beau. Karen Gillan is Mae's friend Annie, the woman at the top who recruits her for The Circle. The movie is set for release April 28th.
