BROOKLYN Featurette: There’s No Place Like Home #book2movies

For Saoirse Ronan the making of Brooklyn hit very close to home. The young actor had just moved to a flat in London, living on her own for the first time. She confides that all the emotions that Eilis was feeling, the loneliness, the home-sickness, she was feeling them too. Nick Hornby calls it the state of not feeling like you belong to one place or another, and that most of us have felt it in one way or other. I know I have and its quite painful.

Enjoy this short featurette called Home—just under three minutes in length—which looks at the bittersweet necessity of homesickness as we go out into the world and begin to live our own lives. Bittersweet because as vital as it is to make that transition, there really is no place like home.
