Sunday Slacker: The Score to 'Girl with the Pearl Earring' by Alexandre Desplat

Here's a true Sunday Slacker offering for you. It's from the soundtrack to Girl with a Pearl Earring by Alexandre Desplat. By now most of you know the Frenchman is my fave film composer.

You don't have to know a thing about the 2003 movie starring Scarlett Johansson, Colin Firth, Tom Wilkinson and Cillian Murphy— based on the extraordinary book by Tracy Chevalier— to appreciate this music. It's soul stirring and just right for the traditional day of rest. Which I'm now going to go do. Rest, or if you will, slack off.
Maybe later I'll see if I can squeeze in the movie. The soundtrack wasn't nominated, nor were the performances but, set in the art world of 17th century Holland, it's something to see and was nominated in the very 'seeable' categories: cinematography, production/set design and costumes. The Girl with the Pearl Earring is available on Amazon, Google-play, YouTube and Vudu. As always not sure about Netflix, those tricky dickies who change up their streaming availabilities willy-nilly.

More Alexandre Desplat. Because really, can there ever be too much Desplat? Non!
