Brooklyn premiered last January at Sundance, and now stars Saoirse Ronan and Domhnall Gleeson have taken the film to TIFF where it once again screened to rave reviews. Ronan stars as Ellis Lacey, a young Irish woman who leaves Ireland and Jim Farrell (Domhnall Gleeson) behind, emigrating to Brooklyn where she meets and falls for Tony (Emory Cohen). Also starring Jim Broadbent and Julie Walters, Brooklyn, based on the book by Colm Toibin, was scripted by Nick Hornby, and directed by John Crowley.
Brooklyn will be released November 6th. It’s supposed to be lush and romantic and incredibly emotional so I’m looking forward to a good cathartic cry. I’m hoping there’ll be a DGA screening before then that I can convince my husband to take me to. Otherwise, I’ve got these images and the trailer below to tide me over.
