It's my slacker Sunday again - amazing how quickly one slacker Sunday follows after another; too many Sundays passing way too quickly! How many Sundays, I wonder in my own little infinity?
I know that quite a few of you have seen the Our Little Infinity featurette from The Fault in Our Stars, the one where Gus explains why he's dangling a cigarette from his lips while Hazel is standing there hooked up to an oxygen tank. "It's a metaphor."
If not, I've posted it below plus a Q&A with Shailene Woodley (Hazel) and Ansel Elgort (Augustus) talking about the meaning of the scene. Woodley mentions a couple of times how well the scene worked in the book and almost sounded wistful, as if she were just as worried about whether the filmmakers would do the book justice as the rest of us. In reality, she's such a huge fan of Green's novel, pitching him personally long before the script had been written, I imagine she is just as concerned as TFIOS book fans are. I'm a fan of both Woodley's ( she sold me on her ability to do nuanced emotional authenticity in The Descendants), as well as the director Josh Boone's Stuck in Love so I'm optimistic.
Opening day is June 6th here in the states, the June 20th opening day cited in the featurette may refer to Ireland or the UK where it officially opens on the 19th. Happy Sunday.
