Jack Reacher starring Tom Cruise: first poster #book2movie

Jack Reacher poster for UK market
Shooting your subject from below is a pretty obvious trick if you're trying to make someone look taller. Someone like Tom Cruise who, heightwise at least, is a physical stretch to play the 6footplus Jack Reacher in the film adaptation of Lee Child's novel One Shot. Many fans of the Reacher character are plenty pissed that director Christopher McQuarrie cast Cruise in the title role of the hulking drifter and ex-military policeman who is called in to investigate the murder of five people in an apparently random sniper attack.
Do you think this just-released poster dials down the debate? Did McQuarrie shoot the film angling his shots from the ground up LOL? The truth will come out when the film, which they're calling Jack Reacher (vs the novel's One Shot title), is released here in the states on December 21, it comes out on December 26 in the UK. And Lee Childs readers, as well as Tom Cruise fans, will see for themselves if Cruise is up to the task.

Cruise himself had reservations and has been quoted as saying
"Firstly, I'm very sensitive to it," Cruise told Empire. "This is Lee's book and Lee's character...
Him giving me his blessing is what made me do it. If he hadn't then I wouldn't have done it."

And this is how Cruise sees the character:
"People look at things through the prism of the colors of their life, but Jack Reacher does things the way we want to sometimes. In that sense, he's sort of a Dirty Harry, a James Bond, a Josey Wales."
