HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY ... TIME TO GET YOUR GREEN ON

HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY!
I know! It ain't Brigadoon, but it is an Irish masterpiece to be sure. I wish the movie version Frank McCourt's Pulitzer Prize winning memoir was on Netflix but the DVD isn't out yet! I went into my account and saved it ... I think if they get a lot of requests that sometimes influences whether they put them on DVD.

What's your favorite book or movie based in Ireland?

  1. I LOVED reading Angela's Ashes, even though I spent most of the book in a desire to half-strangle Frank McCourt's father:

My favorite Irish novel, I think, is Brian Moore's The Emperor of Ice Cream.
I have Leon Uris's Trinity and Joyce's Dubliners on my shelf, both of them unread..... shame on me!

    1. The Emperor of Ice Cream is such a 'cool' title, I will have to have a looksee.

  2. The title is actually nabbed from a Wallace Stevens poem, and I never did quite get the allusion to it, in the book. But the novel is fabulous. Brian Moore was born and raised in Belfast, but emigrated to Canada and California. He's a wonderful author. One of my faves.
