Finally! Some recognition for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy!

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) came out today and happily Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy earned a multiple of nominations ... I don't know why it wasn't recognized by the Globes but suspect it must have had something to do with eligiblity requirements. Well BAFTA has made up for that giving it a whopping 11 nominations (The Artist beats it with 12) but what I especially like are it won nominations for Best Film and Outstanding British Film. Isn't that lovely? It's so honest. Here in the states we would never have an award for Best American Film yet we chafe and bristle when the Brits monopolize the awards and when the Frenchies do - as they will this year with The Artist, it will be tough for the American's to keep their big happy grins going! If we had an Outstanding American Film in addition to a Best Film, that would soothe feathers wouldn't it? Just a thought!
In addition to Tinker, and The Artist, Best Film noms went to The Descendants, Drive and The Help

Except for The Artist, these were all novels first.
Tinker is also in the running for Best Adapted Screenplay along with The Descendants, The Help, Money Ball as well as Ides of March.

Here's the complete list of nominees  You'll notice work derived from some notable books.
The BAFTA's are televised; here in the states you can watch on BBC America on February 12th at 8pm eastern.
