The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie as Fashion Muse

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: Costumes - and a Ready to Wear Collection - by Trish Summerville... the short blonde surrounded by models showing off her designs.

I've already read that some girls - twenty something's most likely - are doing themselves up as Lizbeth Salander for Halloween. Makes sense as Rooney Mara looks totally kickass in the trailer. (As did Noomi Rapace in the original Swedish version)

And I've been noticing more young women with partially shaven heads offset with with a dramatic mop on the other side. Even one of the finalists from Project Runway is sporting the latest asymetrical look!  Now, if you really want to channel Lisbeth Salander, the Sweidish retailer, H&M is launching a The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo inspired collection. The store worked closely with Trish Summerville, the costume designer of David Fincher's adaptation which is due out December 21.

In the U.K. newspaper, The Guardian, Summerville says "Salander's look is very real and very lived in, with pieces that her character has worn for a long time, like her jackets that act as her armor to shield her from the world.  I wanted the collection to have the essence and strength of Salander, with a fashion edge, and I'm pleased with the result! My goal is for women to find pieces in it that they love and then mix them with their own wardrobe to create their own personal style."

H&M said the collection has "the dark urban feel that defines Salander's character." It will feature leather jackets and trousers, torn jeans and slouchy hoodies, in industrial shades of black, grey, worn white and dark red.

The collection will be available in stores and online beginning Dec. 14.

Lizbeth Salander would probably take one look at the manufactured bad ass pretentions and shake her head with disgust. What do you think? I can see this sort of retro Goth look taking off.
